At 51 years young, Marcel Theo Hall- aka Biz Markie- is one of hip hop’s most influential players. A native of Harlem, New York, Markie rose to fame in the late 1980s with his unique blend of beatboxing and comedic lyricism. In 1989 he released “Just a Friend” which became his most successful single after reaching number nine on Billboard’s Hot 100 the following year. During his career, Biz Markie has worked with a variety of music acts such as The Beastie Boys, Will Smith and The Rolling Stones to name a few.
Since the mid 1990s he has worked on commercials, television and film including Men in Black II. From 2007 to 2013 Biz Markie appeared in 43 episodes of the children’s show “Yo Gabba Gabba!” where he gained notoriety for his popular "Biz's Beat of the Day."
As a DJ, Biz Markie is well known for his extensive record collection ranging from hip hop classics to deep rarities. Coupled with his larger than life character, his DJ sets are truly an experience.
